We are currently seeking a Network Engineer to support enterprise, campus, data center, and distributed partner networks across GCE and GCU. The role is responsible for the full lifecycle of LAN, WAN, WLAN, cloud networking, and network security technologies. This is a hybrid position, with the majority of work performed on-site at GCU’s main campus in Phoenix, Arizona.
Primary Responsibilities
Design, implement, and support network infrastructure (LAN, WAN, WLAN), with a strong emphasis on MPLS-based campus environments and cloud integrations. Manage and troubleshoot complex network environments including routing, switching, wireless, VPN, load balancing, and firewall services. Collaborate with internal teams, external vendors, and campus stakeholders to evaluate network needs, develop solutions, and execute projects. Mentor junior network administrators, share technical knowledge, and contribute to lifecycle planning and documentation. Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support as needed to ensure 24/7 network availability. Other duties as assigned. Equipment Used and Responsibility
Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint) Network monitoring and configuration tools Network hardware: Cisco Catalyst/Nexus, Arista, Aruba, and Extreme Wireless Firewalls: Cisco ASA/Firepower, Palo Alto, SonicWall Load balancers: Citrix, F5 VPN technologies: Cisco, Palo Alto Cisco Catalyst Center, SD-WAN platforms, and cloud networking tools Supervisory Responsibilities
This position does not include direct supervisory responsibilities but does provide mentoring and guidance to junior staff and network administrators. Experience/Education
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field from a regionally accredited institution and 5 years of professional experience in network administration; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience Preferred Experience
Routing & Switching protocols: TCP/IP, DNS, SMTP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, SD-WAN Campus and Data Center networking technologies (e.g., VXLAN, ACI) Troubleshooting tools and packet capture analysis Certifications
Cisco CCNP, CCNA, or equivalent ITIL Foundation AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner Physical Requirements
