Overview

The Department of Computing at Utah Tech University (UT) in St. George, Utah, invites applicants for a full-time professional-track Instructor of the Practice or Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity, starting July 1, 2026. The preferred candidate will possess a terminal degree in Cybersecurity or Information Technology. We are seeking someone with strong knowledge of SCADA and ICS security to complement our existing expertise. Responsibilities

Teach 30 credits of lecture and laboratory courses in cybersecurity each academic year. Contribute to the ongoing development of programs and projects in Cybersecurity and related areas. Perform defined campus-wide duties including holding office hours, attending department, college, and division faculty meetings, and adhering to University policy and procedures. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

A bachelor\'s degree in Cybersecurity (or a related field) will be considered for the Instructor of the Practice. A master’s degree in Cybersecurity or closely related field by Spring 2026 is preferred. A terminal degree is required to be considered for the Assistant Professor. Industry experience strongly preferred. Interest in Industrial Control Systems security preferred. Prior teaching experience is a plus. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to collegiality and teamwork are desired. An interest in active learning, experiential learning, and student engagement is also desirable.

Position Details, Compensation and Benefits

Full-time (9-month) professional-track faculty position. Faculty service begins August 2026, with pay and benefits starting July 1, 2026. Annual salary of $70,000 for Instructor of the Practice or $87,000 for Assistant Professor, with additional compensation available for optional summer/overload teaching.
