Job Description At Regions, the Data Management and Governance Manager serves as the primary point of responsibility, accountability and monitoring pertaining to the assessment, improvement, management, and governance of Bank Data.
Primary Responsibilities
Develops, monitors, and promotes Data Standards, Tools and best practices
Ensures Data Assets are cataloged and available for appropriate use
Promotes and maintains Metadata documentation as needed to meet fit-for-purpose requirements
Develops processes to collect and maintain a current inventory of information data assets
Manages and resolves data issues and documentation
Reviews data quality issues, performs root cause analysis and reports breaches to Data Owners or Consumers
Manages, executes and tracks data issue remediation plans with stakeholders
Promotes ongoing fit‑for‑purpose critical data information assets
Demonstrates and maintains data lineage and flow for Critical Data Assets
Monitors data health and quality requirements including business rules and movement validation controls
Creates, tracks and reports metrics for data health for stewarded application(s)
Collects and updates business metadata and reference data for data assigned
Translates business rules into data quality rules for Critical Data Elements
Ensures data and Metadata for all Enterprise Critical Data Elements (ECDE) is provisioned in an appropriate authoritative source
Supports applications and platforms to effectively share data from authoritative sources
Manages a team of Data Governance Analyst(s)
Serves as liaison to System Administrators, Custodians and Data Owners
Participates as an active member of Data Councils, working groups and other teams as needed
Requirements
Bachelor's degree and ten (10) years experience in Banking, Systems, Management, or related expertise
OR High School Diploma or GED and fifteen (15) years’ experience in Banking, Systems, Management, or related expertise
Preferences
Experience in Master Data Management, Data Governance, Information Governance, or Data Architecture
Knowledge of Data Governance, Data Quality, Data Validations, Reference Data and Master data management concepts
Familiar with data quality reporting methodologies and capabilities
Experience using banking applications such as internal loan, deposit and customer systems
Knowledge of banking processes, procedures and controls
Experience with ETL tools such as Informatica
Hands‑on experience with Python, R, SAS or other similar tools
Data shaping and wrangling skills
Experience with Data Governance Tools for Data Cataloging and Metadata Management
Skills and Competencies
Ability to articulate technical concepts to non‑technical audience
Strong proven documentation skills
Data visualization or other Business Intelligence reporting capabilities
Strong communication and presentation skills
Basic SQL skills
Demonstrated experience with analyzing data, data flows, lineage, and data profiling
Preferred Qualifications
Expertise within Data Governance with strong familiarity with regulatory submissions
Familiarity with regulatory submissions like FDIC 370 and 2052a
Familiarity with tools and vendors like Catalog/Alation, Data‑Quality/Collibra and Lineage/Bigeye
Hands‑on familiarity with one or more of the above tools and vendors would be a plus
Financial Industry experience is a plus
Employment Details Position type: Full‑time. Status: Exempt from timekeeping requirements. Incentive eligible. Not eligible for overtime pay.
Location Riverchase Operations Center – Hoover, Alabama (or Atlanta, GA). Must be within reasonable driving distance. Relocation assistance not provided. Current remote associates may be considered.
