Core Responsibilities Employees in the Wind Turbine Composite Technician position should expect to: Evaluate, inspect, diagnose and document internal and external composite damage, then photograph and assemble documentation as required. Perform coating and structural repairs of internal and external composite structures, such as wind turbine blades and nacelles. Modify and repair fiberglass, carbon fiber, resin and other composite materials as needed. Work with site leadership to execute all contractual obligations and activities set forth with the customers daily, which can include composite repairs with respect to wind turbines. Perform Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) as required to maintain a safe working environment. Interpret engineering drawings and lamination schedules. Coordinate with the engineering support team when needed for non-standard repairs. Requires GWO Certification, either existing or available through Pearce Training Program. Specific duties may vary or evolve over time based on business and client needs. Core Experience Minimum of 3 years of experience working with composite materials in any industry. Proven technical and team leadership skills. Supervised composite blade damage assessment. Lightening damage tip, carbon blade tip and multi-shell tip replacement. Experienced with internal and external adhesive bonding. Competent in repairing leading edge (LE) and trailing edge (TE) cracks. Understanding of mix ratios for all composite repair chemicals. Read and understand electrical schematic drawings. Ability and willingness to climb a wind turbine vertically at least 300 feet. Maintain a weight between 120 and 280 pounds, including clothing and boots, for OSHA safety compliance. Lift and move equipment as needed (more than 50 pounds). Work in an indoor or outdoor environment in adverse weather conditions with blowing pollen, dust, and grasses. At Pearce, we are committed to fair and transparent pay practices. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and location. In addition to wages, employees may also be eligible for performance and referral bonuses, production incentives, tool/equipment and fuel stipends, company vehicle, per diem or other applicable compensation.
