About The Position

The Riverside County Office of the District Attorney is accepting applications for Investigator Technician I/II throughout Riverside County. Selected candidates will be subject to an extensive background check through the District Attorney. Investigator Technician I

Salary $4,286.45 - $6,382.32 Monthly. Requires one year of experience as an Investigative Technician Trainee. Investigator Technician II

Salary $4,763.34 - $7,090.67 Monthly. Requires one year of experience as an Investigator Technician I or three years of sworn/non‑sworn experience in field investigations, including locating and interviewing witnesses, collecting evidence for court, and writing reports. Essential Duties

Supports investigators in economic, hazardous material, environmental, bad check, insurance fraud, homicide, child abduction, spousal, sexual, and elderly abuse investigations. Interviews complainants, witnesses, and defendants; collects, documents, and records statements for investigative bureaus. Performs investigative dispatching and prepares routine investigative reports. Reviews case files and extracts useful investigative information. Serves civil and criminal legal processes including subpoenas, summons, complaints, warrants, and LPS/conservatorship reviews. Collects and analyzes documents such as bank records, medical records, titles, court documents, and law‑enforcement records. Identifies and locates witnesses, victims, suspects, and persons through directories, utilities, and public or private agencies. Files and tracks cases in court; verifies authority and procedural timelines. Explains DA, Public Defender, Child Services, or Public Social Services investigation policies and procedures. Maintains reports, statistical logs, and computerized databases related to investigations. Prepares photo line‑ups and transports witnesses, suspects, and victims. Operates radio, mobile telephone, and paging equipment; maintains contact with investigative personnel. Acts as central receptionist for the Bureau of Investigations; records and refers messages. Monitors security alarms and equips investigative personnel with law‑enforcement tools. Photographs physical evidence and prepares crime‑scene diagrams; may testify in court regarding investigative findings. Travels abroad and conducts surveillance and undercover investigations; loads and stores evidence. Conducts welfare fraud prevention interviews and explains program fraud prevention requirements. Conducts preliminary field investigations, collects statements, and prepares written reports. Qualifications

Experience Options: I – one year as an Investigative Technician Trainee; II – two years of sworn or non‑sworn investigative support; III – two years as a Eligibility Technician II/III. Academic substitution: 12 semester or 18 quarter college units in administration of justice or related field may substitute for one year of experience for Options II and III. Knowledge of Department functions, investigative techniques, evidentiary preservation, and court procedures is required. Ability to interpret and apply laws, communicate effectively, conduct preliminary investigations, maintain records, and drive up to 500 miles during a shift. Other Requirements

Possession of a valid California Driver’s License. Must pass an extensive background check. Must lift and carry up to 50 lbs. and drive up to 500 miles during a shift. Veteran's Preference
