This role provides support to Fleet Numerical Meteorology and Oceanography Center (FNMOC) in support of their ocean modeling applications, Navy Ocean Sound Speed Prediction (NOSSP) Ocean modeling system, Rapid Ocean Atmosphere Modeling Environment-Relocatable (ROAMER) model management system and Navy Ocean Forecasting Tools (NOFT) that provide on-demand, multiresolution Numerical Ocean Prediction (NOP) capability. The candidate will provide support of software engineering (SE) and maintenance services to ensure NOSSP, ROAMER, and/or NOFT application software runs correctly on assigned systems, including availability of required input data, output data, configuration management of version and patch releases, customer requests, and quality control. The candidate will provide support to develop and implement solutions to upgrade both capacity and reliability of the file distribution systems for NOSSP. Responsibilities
Provide technical expertise for database design, development, implementation, information storage and retrieval, data flow and analysis. Develop or maintain database structure to fit in into the overall architecture of the system. Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to enhance and maintain data processing applications. Collaborate with team peers and SMEs to achieve goals in Linux based architecture environment with web-based front-end dashboards. Design and implement new database features to improve system performance and support expanded requirements. Design and implement new data and file distribution system features to improve system performance and support expanded requirements. Support maintenance and outage recovery. Collaborate with the documentation team to develop and maintain database related documentations.
