About The Role We’re looking for an organized, hands‑on Tool & Die Lead to oversee toolroom operations and ensure all tooling is built, maintained, and repaired to meet production needs. This role provides technical leadership to tool and die makers while ensuring high‑quality, precise, and timely results.

Reports To:

Plant Manager

Key Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate tool and die makers, apprentices, and support staff.

Assign and prioritize tooling work to support production schedules and reduce press downtime.

Oversee construction, assembly, and troubleshooting of progressive and transfer dies, jigs, and fixtures.

Perform and guide complex die repairs, sharpening, and component replacements.

Interpret blueprints, CAD models, and engineering specifications for tooling accuracy.

Support production teams with die setup and press troubleshooting.

Manage preventive maintenance and maintain detailed tooling records.

Keep toolroom equipment and instruments in optimal condition and ensure compliance with safety, ISO 9001 standards, and best practices.

Train and mentor toolroom staff, providing performance feedback.

Partner with engineering, production, and quality teams on tool design and improvements.

Collaborate with customers on tooling change requests and new tool builds.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade certification preferred.

5+ years as a tool and die maker in metal stamping/fabrication, with 1–2 years in a lead role.

Strong knowledge of progressive and transfer dies, setup, and troubleshooting.

Skilled in precision machining, grinding, welding, heat treating, and measurement tools.

Ability to read and interpret drawings, GD&T, and part specifications.

Experience with press operations and troubleshooting.

Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Familiarity with CAD/CAM and MS Office preferred.

Preferred Experience Wire EDM programming and operating experience.

Working Conditions Standing, walking, and hand work for extended periods. Regular lifting up to 50 lbs. Work around stamping presses and fabrication equipment in a manufacturing environment.
