Overview
GBSI is seeking an Information Technology (IT) professional for the role of Data Center Engineer – Infrastructure/Cloud in Landover, MD. The Data Center Engineer – Infrastructure/Cloud will be responsible for reviewing current infrastructures, architectures, designs, and operations to identify potential improvements. Responsibilities
Design, deliver, and optimize virtual infrastructure services to improve security, availability, performance, and resource utilization. Review current virtual infrastructures, architectures, designs, and operations to identify potential improvements. Analyze, refine, and document the requirements for transition from legacy architectures into a modern virtualized infrastructure environment. Design and build host & tenant environments with security‑hardened configuration for infrastructure services and design ongoing maintenance practices and procedures for infrastructure‑hosted service patching and updates. Design virtual infrastructure services to maximize available capacity of physical compute, storage, and network hardware resources. Document security, configuration, and performance benchmarks of infrastructure services. Design production infrastructure services that support highly available, private cloud, active‑active data center operations within the constraints of the environment. Design practices, procedures, automation, and orchestration to provision, de‑provision, and entitle computer, storage, and network resources. Identify infrastructure security‑relevant actions, tests, and key performance indicators for an information dashboard and reporting. Design service catalog items for infrastructure services for business and IT technical services. Provide advanced technical support in the research, experimentation, business analysis and use of systems technology including architecture, integration capabilities, and database management. Develop the end‑to‑end vision and the logical design that translates into physical databases, and how the data will flow through the successive stages involved. Possess a wider range of data administration skills, often in a business process re‑engineering context. Participate in strategic data planning, including development and implementation of data analytics policies, standards, and procedures. Understand data from the perspective of data processing and in the context of different lifecycle phases. Perform data quality engineering, metadata consolidation and integration, metamodel development and maintenance, repository management, data warehouse design and data mining, data security administration, and formulation of enterprise‑specific data metrics. Qualifications
LEVEL III: Bachelor’s degree in a related field with 5–8 years of experience; OR Master’s degree with 3–5 years of experience; OR PhD with 0–2 years of experience. LEVEL IV: Bachelor’s degree with 8–10 years of experience; OR Master’s degree with 6–8 years of experience; OR PhD with 3–5 years of experience. Current DoD 8570.1‑M IAT Level III (e.g., CISSP, GCIH, GCIA) certification required at start. Active TS/SCI clearance with SCI eligibility at start. Experience in infrastructure/data‑center engineering and integration for both physical and virtual infrastructure hosting one or more operating systems: Windows, Linux, Solaris, UNIX, and/or AIX systems. Experience in VMware vCloud Enterprise Suite and hybrid cloud with multiple classified government clouds. Professional‑level Linux, VMware, network, storage, or cloud certification desired.
