This role supports the Engineering Laboratory in test and measuring instrumentation setup, test equipment and cable fabrication, calibration and troubleshooting of measuring equipment and instruments. The position is in the Power & Controls Engineering Laboratory as an hourly bargaining unit role. The Lab provides experimental testing services for research, development, new product validation and verification, and in-service field problems. Facilities include Pneumatics, Fuel, Hydro-Mechanical, Electronics/EMI, Vibration, and Metrology Labs. Our development focus includes Electric, Environmental, Engine Systems, Propulsion, and Space Systems.
What You Will Do
Install, test, calibrate, adjust, and maintain electronic, electro-mechanical, mechanical, optical, pneumatic, hydro-mechanical, and pressure-type measuring and indicating instruments and associated signal conditioning (thermocouples, pressure transducers, flowmeters, load cells, strain gauges).
Work with electrical and electronic measurement devices, including DMMs, oscilloscopes, and DC power supplies.
Build and fabricate test equipment and fixtures; install and wire components, units, instrumentation, switches, and controls.
Disassemble, clean, repair, and replace defective parts of test equipment.
Troubleshoot and perform rework (electronic and mechanical).
Calibrate test rigs and instrumentation to conform to standards.
Set up calibration sequences, methods, and procedures according to detailed specifications, drawings, and requirements.
Monitor and verify quality in accordance with ANSI Z540-1 and ISO 17025.
Coordinate with Engineering to establish calibration procedures.
Use computer software and applications, including Microsoft Office; maintain detailed records.
Shift: 1st Shift, 7:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.
Qualifications You Must Have
U.S. citizenship required.
3–5 years of applicable experience in Metrology, Instrumentation, Calibration, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
High school diploma or GED.
Qualifications We Prefer
Proficiency reading schematics.
Experience diagnosing technical problems.
Electronics experience or an AS in Electronics.
