Description Team Fishel, the Best Choice for Utility Construction and Network Installation, is hiring Fiber Technicians for our Telecom Team in Richmond, VA.
This position is responsible for cable installations of Voice, Data, Fiber Optics, and Coax cables, including termination and testing of copper and fiber optic cables.
The ideal candidate will have 2+ years of experience in fusion splicing fiber optic cable, splice audit verifications, voice/data/fiber installation and termination, and OTDR and power meter testing.
Duties
Splice various types of fiber optic cable including single mode, multimode, stranded, and ribbon.
Analyze and troubleshoot basic technical problems or issues.
Review, interpret, and work with maps, drawings, blueprints, and testing documents.
Perform daily tests, checks, and maintenance of splicing and testing equipment.
Conduct optical continuity and conformance testing.
Make splicing rearrangements on existing facilities in buried, underground, aerial, and building work locations.
Basic Job Qualifications
High School diploma or GED equivalent.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical field, with the ability to supervise others.
Working knowledge of fusion splicing and optical testing equipment, including Alcoa Fujikura, GN Net Test, EXFO, Fitel, Sumitomo.
Ability to interpret blueprints and project documents, including specifications and quality requirements.
Knowledge of CAT 3, CAT 5, riser, fiber optic, PVC, riser-rated, and plenum cables, and understanding of different environments.
Understanding of universal communications color codes.
Ability to work independently and with others, climb and work at heights, and in confined spaces.
Must meet company minimum driving standards.
