Overview
The Lead Security Systems Technician is responsible for overseeing the installation, configuration, and servicing of access control, surveillance, and intrusion detection systems. This role provides field leadership, ensures quality standards are met, and serves as the primary technical resource for junior technicians. The Lead Technician works closely with project managers and programmers to deliver projects on time, within scope, and to the highest level of customer satisfaction. Responsibilities
Installation & Configuration Install, terminate, and configure access control, surveillance (CCTV/IP video), and intrusion detection devices. Lead the field implementation of projects, ensuring work follows drawings, specifications, and company standards. Verify system functionality through testing, commissioning, and client walk-throughs. Leadership & Training Provide on-site supervision and direction to technicians and subcontractors. Train and mentor junior team members on installation best practices and system setup. Act as the escalation point for technical issues in the field. Quality Assurance & Documentation Ensure workmanship meets safety, code, and quality standards. Maintain accurate as-built drawings, device lists, and daily field reports. Communicate project progress, issues, and needs to project managers in a timely manner. Qualifications
Education & Experience High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certifications or trade school preferred. 3–5 years of hands-on experience installing and servicing enterprise-level security systems. Experience leading field crews or acting as a senior technician. Technical Skills Strong knowledge of access control, video surveillance, and intrusion detection hardware/software. Proficiency with system wiring, terminations, network setup, and device programming. Familiarity with platforms such as Mercury, Genetec, LenelS2, Avigilon, Axis, Hanwha, or comparable systems. Certifications (Preferred) Manufacturer certifications (e.g., Axis, Hanwha, Genetec, Lenel, Avigilon). OSHA 10/30, BICSI, or equivalent industry safety/trade certifications. Soft Skills Leadership and team coordination abilities. Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. Professional communication and customer service skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a project team.
