As part of the largest College at the University of Michigan, LSA Finance employs more than 100 staff who provide financial, procurement, and research administration support to over 100 units. LSA Finance is seeking a finance professional to provide financial and research administration support services to LSA business offices. The Financial Specialist Associate is a key member of the business office serving multiple units. This role requires excellent interpersonal skills to partner with colleagues at all levels and within multiple University offices. Flexible Work Arrangements As part of the University of Michigan's Future Work Initiative and LSA Finance's Flexible Work Arrangements, this position offers the option to work either on campus or remotely. However, periodic on-campus presence is required throughout the year to support intentional collaboration, team building, and engagement. On-campus work may also be necessary when a project, assignment, or customer need benefits from in-person interaction. In addition, participation in required on-campus deposit activities will occur on a rotational basis. Employees are responsible for any travel planning and related expenses associated with coming to campus. Responsibilities

Serve as the LSA finance liaison to assigned LSA units, working closely with LSA chief administrators and stakeholders. Provide accounting services for processes such as Guest and Student Reimbursements (TBHER) and PeoplePay requests, utilizing M-Pathways and interfacing with the SSC as needed. Receive information from department faculty, staff, and administrators to prepare paperwork or process online submissions, ensuring compliance with LSA and UM policies. Track transactions within the system to ensure proper payment and complete timely processing. Ensure journal entries are accurate, correctly coded, and compliant with regulations and requirements. Initiate accounts receivable and accounts payable responsibilities; assist with lump sum/cash advance requests and reconciliation, visa requests, SVC requests, and general accounting tasks (journal entries, fund transfers, chartfield maintenance, recharge activity processing, and royalties tracking and distribution). On-campus cash handling responsibilities include receiving and depositing cash and checks, processing gifts, and reconciling deposits. Assist other members of the LSA Finance team as needed and participate in continuous process improvement efforts to enhance financial operations. Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in a financially related field, required. Excellent, demonstrated customer service skills; ability to develop and implement procedures, prepare reports, and handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately. Some financial analysis will be required. Well-developed interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse groups of customers, and competence in verbal and written communication. Mastery of Excel and comfort with changing technology. Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate effectively with co-workers; attention to detail; sound judgment; follow-through to completion; and high work standards.
