Job Summary As a
Pre-Analytical Assistant , you will support the
Technical Operations Department
by performing manual pre-analytical functions critical to specimen processing and lab operations. Responsibilities include specimen sorting, racking, centrifugation, storage, and internal transport — all executed with accuracy, speed, and compliance. This is a high-volume, production-based role within a biohazard lab setting.
Key Responsibilities
Sort, rack, and deliver specimens to various departments. Perform specimen centrifugation and aliquoting; ensure proper labeling and storage. Identify and resolve issues related to specimen types, missing data, or handling discrepancies. Operate in compliance with test ordering regulations and lab standards. Use basic data entry systems and translation tools to validate information. Maintain detailed documentation and accurate logs. Keep the work area clean and adhere to 5S workplace standards. Collaborate within team environments and support weekend, holiday, and overtime staffing as needed.
Qualifications
Required Experience High School Diploma or GED required. 0–2 years of experience in a clinical lab or production environment. Understanding of medical terminology and specimen types preferred. Strong attention to detail, time management, and multitasking in high-pressure settings. Nice-to-Have Experience Prior experience in laboratory processing or diagnostics. Familiarity with mainframe computer systems and clinical databases. Required Skills Manual dexterity and ability to handle biological specimens Basic computer and data entry skills Team collaboration and shift flexibility Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and maneuver specimen carts Adherence to safety, compliance, and infection control policies Preferred Skills Experience with clinical specimen handling or courier coordination Knowledge of compliance regulations for lab test ordering Comfort with working in biohazard environments Additional Skills Commitment to continuous improvement and adaptable to change Strong interpersonal communication Ability to work independently under minimal supervision
