Overview
Construction Casualty Underwriter (Level I or II) – Zurich North America. This role is based in Overland Park, with hybrid work options. The successful candidate will work with the manager to set a flexible schedule and meet with agents and brokers in the market three days per week. Responsibilities
Serve as a customer industry advocate, focusing on the customer experience by understanding risk and offering end-to-end insurance solutions. Apply a disciplined approach to exposure evaluation, risk assessment, and pricing. Use risk insights, data, and models to drive informed decisions at the point of sale. Market-facing production within the growing Construction division. Administer and monitor underwriting rules, guidelines, insurance laws and regulations, and rating manual rules. Work within broad limits and authorities on highly complex assignments. Qualifications
Construction Casualty Underwriter I – Requirements
High School Diploma or Equivalent with 1+ years of experience in Insurance or Market-Facing areas, Banking, Mortgage, Finance, Construction, or High School Diploma or Equivalent with 2+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support, and knowledge of the insurance industry and regulatory environment. Knowledge of underwriting philosophy, techniques, and related regulations/guidelines. Construction Casualty Underwriter II – Requirements
High School Diploma or Equivalent with 3+ years of experience in Underwriting or Market-Facing areas, Banking, Mortgage, Finance, Construction, or High School Diploma or Equivalent with 6+ years of experience in Claims or Underwriting Support, or Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with Associate Degree and 1+ year of experience; or Associate Degree plus 4+ years of experience. Knowledge of lines of business and regulatory guidelines; knowledge of quote time constraints for new and renewal business; experience with Microsoft Office. Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree. Technical knowledge of Construction Casualty Underwriting. Established broker relationships within Missouri, Kansas, and Iowa. Sales execution mindset; creative problem-solving skills; strong verbal and written communication. Compensation and Benefits
Compensation is influenced by location, role, skill set, and experience. The salary range for this position is $58,700.00 – $121,700.00. Level I range: $58,700.00 – $96,200.00 (10% short-term incentive). Level II range: $74,300.00 – $121,700.00 (10% short-term incentive). Zurich also offers a comprehensive Total Rewards package and may include short-term incentive bonuses and merit increases. Location: Overland Park, KS. Schedule: Full Time.
