Overview
Assistant Professor of Literacy Education—tenure-track faculty position in the Department of Literacy, Early Childhood and Special Education (LESE) at the University of Northern Iowa. Start date August 2026. Focus on elementary literacy with linguistically, culturally, and economically diverse students. Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses (MAE and Ed.D.) in elementary education. Engage in scholarship and publication; contribute to department/university initiatives. Develop curriculum and engage in innovative practice; advise graduate students; serve on masters/doctoral committees. Participate in a collegial team environment. Required Qualifications
Earned doctorate in Elementary Education, Reading or Literacy Education, or closely related field by start date. Proficiency with digital communications and both online and face-to-face instruction. Excellent interpersonal skills; experience developing a research agenda and potential for scholarly productivity; demonstrated experience as an educator. Preferred Qualifications
Willingness to partner with educators and preservice teachers in local school environments. Experience designing/delivering online and in-person instruction for undergraduate/graduate levels. Experience with diverse student populations and literacy approaches; current research. Application Instructions
