Job Summary The Children’s Center at the University of Colorado Boulder encourages applications for multiple Assistant Teacher, On Call positions! These on‑call roles are a vital part of the team that provides childcare for families affiliated with CU Boulder. These positions provide a nurturing and safe environment for a diverse population of children ages 6 weeks to age 8. In collaboration with lead teachers and directors, these roles serve by helping to develop and implement lesson plans, teaching developmentally appropriate curriculum, assisting in the training of university student employees, and providing information for evaluation of student employees and children. This is a year‑round substitute teaching position that would be on call to work in any of our classrooms, 6 weeks‑5 years of age, for teachers’ planned vacations and last‑minute absences. As such, this is a part‑time position without benefits.

Responsibilities
Supervise assigned children/infant groups.
Assist the Lead Teacher with writing lesson plans and implementing age‑appropriate planned activities such as music, art, math, language, science, movement, dramatic play, and group activities tailored to meet children’s individual needs.
Attend parent conferences and parent programs.
Maintain channels of communication with teaching teams and office in an effective manner, including completing written reports such as notes, accident reports, attendance reports, name‑to‑face reports, and assessments concerning each child’s development.
Facilitate direct contact with parents under the supervision of the Lead Teacher, including discussions at arrival and departure times, written communications, telephone calls, and parent‑teacher conferences.
Inspect, make decisions about, and communicate to the Lead Teacher or director the condition of indoor/outdoor materials and equipment, teaching safety precautions and rules, and ensure a safe and stimulating outdoor environment.
Assist with family programs, model appropriate language and behaviors, and contribute to continued professional growth through staff in‑services, workshops, and conferences.
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years of age.
Able to pass a pre‑placement physical and required background checks, including Colorado Bureau of Investigation and Central Registry of Child Protection.
At least one of the following qualifications based on Colorado Office of Early Childhood (examples: Bachelor’s degree with major in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or related; Associate’s degree with required coursework; current teaching license in Colorado; Child Development Associate (CDA) certification; verified experience with children under eight).
Completion of a course of training approved by the Department and nine months (1,365 hours) of verified experience in the care and supervision of four or more children less than eight years of age not related to the individual.
Three months (455 hours) of verified experience in the care and supervision of four or more children less than eight years of age not related to the individual.
Availability to work full days when called in for the year‑round schedule Monday‑Friday 7:30 am‑5:30 pm.
Experience related to infant and toddler care or early childhood instruction, as described in detailed qualification list.
What We Offer Hourly rate: $20 per hour. No benefits for this part‑time position.
