Our rail services division manages three short line railroads and numerous contract switching and transloading sites. Our Conductor/Engineers are responsible for operating and moving locomotives, railcars, and other equipment in full compliance with FRA, AAR, and company rules. Duties and Responsibilities Perform work safely and efficiently, wearing all required PPE. Operate locomotives, interpret train orders, and pass written competency tests. Monitor train speed, brakes, and gauges for smooth operation. Inspect track and railcars for anomalies in compliance with FRA regulations. Operate locomotives and trains safely and efficiently. Coordinate train movements with conductors via communication systems. Report train stops, accidents, and delays. Assemble and switch trains according to work orders, ensuring accuracy. Operate locomotives following GCOR, ABTH, and Safety standards. Use signals and communication to control train movements. Operate track switches and apply/release brakes as needed. Read and understand rules, timetables, and safety instructions. Complete daily reports, switch lists, and train orders. Inspect train and equipment conditions. Couple air and electrical connections when making up trains. Cross-train in other rail-related duties such as minor track repairs and locomotive servicing. Required Education and Credentials High school diploma or GED Valid Driver’s License FRA 240 and 242 Certification Skills and Experience At least 2 years of relevant work experience; 3 years preferred. Ability to work outdoors in a fast-paced environment. Physical Requirements Must perform heavy work, lift up to 100 pounds, and operate tools. Ability to stand, sit, walk, and maintain balance on uneven ground. Must pass physical and drug screening, have 20/40 vision (corrected), and recognize signal colors. Working Conditions Work outdoors in various weather conditions, exposed to noise, vibrations, dust, and chemicals. Must follow safety procedures and take precautions to avoid injuries, including working at heights and in extreme temperatures.
