Overview
Seeking 2 Safety Coordinators in Norfolk, VA to assist with a long term Road Connector Project. Must have roadway experience. Responsibilities
Administer compliance with the safety program and lead accident prevention efforts to ensure company and project safety goals are met. Conduct site inspections of project work areas and equipment. Develop, organize, and implement safety related programs that meet company safety standards. Assist in the investigation of accidents and determine root causes and recommend corrective/preventive measures. Perform and document jobsite inspections and audits with a focus on hazard recognition and unsafe behaviors. Coordinate and conduct safety meetings/training programs to ensure effective communication amongst new and existing employees. Participate in regulatory agency inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations. Carry out any other assigned tasks given by the Area Safety Manager or Area Project Manager. Must be able to stand, walk, and climb multiple flights of stairs. Outside role, working rotating Days and Night shifts. Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Safety from an accredited institution or 3-5 years’ experience as a safety professional in the construction industry Roadway experience Preferred
7 years’ construction safety experience in heavy construction (marine works, tunnel, or roadway) OSHA 30 Hour Construction Safety Trained CHST Safety Trained Supervisor-Construction (STS-C) Certified, through the Board of Certified Safety Professionals First aid/CPR/AED Certified Full-time, 4 12's Local preferred , or ability to relocate- no per diem for this role. Healthcare benefits paid Dental, vision, disability insurance 401k at 5% match Vehicle allowance Opportunity for direct hire $105,000 - 115,000 Depending on experience
