Position Overview Lexicon is seeking experienced trades professionals to join our apprenticeship training program as part-time instructors. These roles are vital to developing the next generation of skilled workers in the Structural Ironworker, Welding and Millwright trades.
Key Responsibilities
Lead instructional sessions.
Deliver a mix of hands-on, classroom, and virtual training.
Follow established curriculum and standards for workforce development.
Teach foundational trade skills, safety practices, and career readiness.
Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
Collaborate on curriculum development and training management.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Experience in construction industry
Minimum of four years of full-time experience in trade instructing (Millwright, Weld, Ironworker).
Ability to clearly explain technical concepts and procedures to learners of varying skill levels.
Strong understanding of safety protocols and ability to model safe practices consistently.
Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and foster inclusive learning.
Preferred Qualifications
Certifications in OSHA 10 or 30 certification
Relevant trade certifications (e.g., NCCER, AWS) are a plus
Prior teaching, mentoring, or training experience in a formal or informal setting
Bi-lingual in English and Spanish
Physical Demands Must be able to work in a high pressure working environment. Some weekend work and overnight travel is required. Must be able to tolerate temperature fluctuations, a loud and dusty work environment, and able to be around high voltage electromagnetic fields. Must be ethical, energetic, and have a passion for training and development. All of the physical demands listed are essential functions.
