Job Summary The Cleveland State University Police Department (CSUPD) is responsible for creating a safe and secure environment across campus. We are currently accepting applications for Lateral Transfers! To be considered, applicants must be Ohio Police Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) Certified and currently employed as a sworn law enforcement officer in Ohio, part-time or full-time. University Police Officers provide law enforcement, security, public safety, and traffic safety services in a community policing environment. Officers are state certified, commissioned law enforcement professionals reporting directly to a shift sergeant. Responsibilities include patrolling campus, investigating incidents, completing reports, assisting with prosecutions, testifying in court, conducting security inspections, securing campus facilities, managing traffic, responding to emergencies, and maintaining public trust through positive relations.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent.
Must be 21 years of age or older and eligible for a firearm license.
Must periodically qualify in firearm use.
Valid driver’s license and driver eligibility under the University’s Motor Vehicle Policy.
Pass written exam, physical abilities test, background check, and panel interview.
Ability to work rotating shifts.
Lateral Transfers: Current OPOTA Certification, 2 years’ experience, current appointment as a law enforcement officer (full-time or part-time), no discipline in the past 2 years.
