Overview UW Health Northern Illinois seeks an Advanced Practice Provider (APRN with first assist or PA-C) to join our busy team of 10 Ob/Gyns and four WHNPs at UW Health SwedishAmerican’s Women & Children’s Hospital, Spring Brook Clinic location.
With a $130 million expansion of women and children’s services, UW Health Northern Illinois’ growing portfolio of obstetric, gynecologic and pediatric services will ensure a busy community-based practice with dedicated support from sub-specialists of University Of Wisconsin School Of Medicine and Public Health.
Job Duties
Clinical Care & Patient Management — Conducting comprehensive health assessments, including medical history and physical exams. Diagnosing and treating acute and chronic conditions related to women’s health. Providing gynecologic care, including pap smears, breast exams, and contraception counseling. Managing menstrual disorders, menopause, and hormonal therapy. Performing colposcopies, endometrial biopsies, and IUD/Nexplanon insertions/removals (depending on credentials). Prescribing medications, including contraceptives, hormone therapy, and antibiotics.
Obstetric & Prenatal Care (if applicable) — Providing prenatal and postnatal care, including routine checkups and fetal monitoring. Educating patients on pregnancy, childbirth, and postpartum care. Collaborating with OB/GYNs in managing high-risk pregnancies.
Health Promotion & Preventative Care — Educating patients on sexual health, family planning, and fertility. Counseling on lifestyle modifications to prevent chronic conditions such as heart disease, osteoporosis, and obesity. Administering vaccinations (HPV, flu, etc.).
Collaboration & Coordination — Working alongside OB/GYNs, primary care providers, and specialists for comprehensive patient care. Referring patients for specialized treatments, including infertility and oncology services. Assisting in surgical procedures or minor gynecologic procedures (if within scope of practice).
Patient Advocacy & Education — Supporting patients through sexual health concerns, domestic violence, and mental health challenges. Educating on STI prevention, safe sex practices, and reproductive health options.
Administrative — Maintaining accurate medical records and ensuring compliance with healthcare regulations. Engaging in continuing education to stay up to date on advancements in women’s health care.
Qualifications
Master’s degree from accredited PA program or completion of a master’s level advanced practice nurse program.
Active APRN or PA license in the State of Illinois and active DEA license or ability to apply for such license prior to or upon hire.
