Overview

Health and Safety Specialist at Four Roses Distillery. The individual works under the Health, Safety & Security Manager to develop, implement, and enforce safety programs, foster a people-centered safety culture, and achieve a zero-incident state through accident prevention, policy enforcement, auditing, and training. The role supports the safety of all team members and visitors and promotes a strong food safety culture to ensure product safety and quality. Responsibilities

Drive Safety Culture: lead with performance, conduct thorough investigations, implement follow-up actions, and apply root cause countermeasures and action plans. Perform site visits and audits to address safety, health, and facility security concerns. Coordinate efforts to mitigate identified hazards and recommend preventative solutions. Review COI documents, training records, and subcontractor work to ensure safety and health compliance. Conduct job hazard risk assessments and provide regular written reports to the Health, Safety & Security Manager. Develop and review safety culture programs to ensure desired results. Ensure compliance of buildings or products with safety regulations and maintain emergency equipment inspections (e.g., fire extinguishers, first aid kits, emergency alarms). Safety Training and Development: provide training on emergency response protocols, equipment use, evacuations, and first aid; identify unsafe behaviors; execute safety training programs; lead new-hire safety orientation; act as FRD first responder for medical emergencies; serve as first point of contact for incident/injury response; coordinate post-accident screening with third-party facilities; establish relationships with local emergency services; organize regular emergency drills to ensure readiness. Accident Investigations and Workers’ Compensation: notify the Health, Safety & Security Manager of incidents; investigate accidents, injuries, near misses, and hazardous conditions; collect incident reports and footage; identify root causes and recommend corrective actions; interview management and team members; assist with record completion and corrective action implementation; oversee workers’ compensation claims and return-to-work processes; coordinate with stakeholders and external providers; analyze trends to improve injury prevention and recovery. Compliance, Policy and Procedure: implement OSHA programs; develop, interpret, and revise safety procedures and emergency response plans; review and update plans based on drills and regulatory changes; communicate policies to ensure adherence; stay current with industry practices and regulatory requirements. Team Member Relations: foster positive relationships with union and non-union team members; support safety communications and engagement activities; organize safety committee meetings and documentation; support overall Health and Safety objectives. Other Job Duties (10%): stay informed on current safety practices, represent the organization in safety groups as requested, and acknowledge that duties may change. Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in health and safety, engineering, or related technical field. At least 2 years of health and safety experience in a manufacturing environment. Experience in leading, developing safety programs and training. Strong computer skills (MS Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access). Working knowledge of government regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA) and workers’ compensation. Preferred: certifications such as GSP, ASP; knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement; experience in a union environment; knowledge of quality certifications (ISO9000, ISO14000). Supervisory Responsibility: The Health and Safety Specialist has no direct reports and reports to the Health, Safety & Security Manager. Travel: Travel between Kentucky locations (Lawrenceburg and Cox\'s Creek) is required, approximately 2 days at an alternate site. Seniorilty and Employment Type
