Job Location: Multiple Locations - New York, NY. Position Type: Temporary. Education Level: 4 Year Degree. Salary Range: $23.00 - $23.00 Hourly. Job Shift: Day and occasional weekends and evenings. Job Category: Education. ORGANIZATION DESCRIPTION Founded in 1965, the Chinese-American Planning Council, Inc. (CPC) aims to promote the social and economic empowerment of Chinese American, immigrant, and low-income communities. CPC is the nation\'s largest Asian American social services agency and offers more than 50 programs at over 35 sites throughout New York City, including early childhood education, school-age care, youth services, workforce development, community services, and senior services. CPC strives to be the premier social service and leadership development organization. In 2017, CPC launched Advancing Our CommUNITY, its organization-wide strategy to expand services to address persistent needs and emerging trends and to improve leadership skills among staff and community members. In 2022, CPC\'s core programs and emergency services reached 200,000 people living in all five boroughs and all 51 city council districts. In the summer of 2022, CPC was recognized as the number one Chinese American organization in New York City to recommend to a Chinese immigrant looking for in-language and culturally competent resources. This accomplishment is a testament to the incredible work and dedication of our staff. PROGRAM SUMMARY CPC School Age Child Care (SACC) Programs are after school and summer programs that serve approximately students from grades K-5 each year (ages 5-12). The goal of the program is to support students in all learning areas including intellectual, academic, physical, social and emotional growth. The program offers creative and structured activities to strengthen participants’ academic skills and incorporates the disciplines of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in a variety of projects, as well as art and physical activities. SACC Programs generally operate on weekdays from 2:00 pm - 6:00 pm, with possible evenings, weekends, and school holidays. – 5105 Fort Hamilton Parkway, Brooklyn, NY 11219 PS 255
– 1866 E 17th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11229 Reporting to the on-site Program Director, the Education Specialist plays a critical role in maintaining program quality by supporting frontline staff with effective planning, implementation, and evaluation of educational and enrichment activities. Candidates should demonstrate a
growth mindset , actively seeking opportunities for professional development and continuous improvement to support staff and enhance program outcomes. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES Observe and evaluate program activities weekly; provide onsite coaching and training to staff to improve activity planning and delivery. Review lesson plans to ensure all activities align with clear learning goals and skill development; adapt curricula to meet program objectives. Collaborate with the Program Director to develop and implement engaging academic, enrichment, and recreational activities focused on DYCD goals, including STEM and literacy. Maintain effective and positive communication with school principals, staff, afterschool personnel, and parents. Assist with maintaining accurate records of staff and participant attendance. Develop and maintain participant progress reports to track learning and engagement. Create and utilize tools for evaluating the effectiveness of program activities and events. Maintain a regular schedule of staff observations, feedback sessions, and team meetings. Attend required meetings and trainings as directed by CPC and funding agencies. Meet regularly with the Program Director to discuss program needs, progress, and challenges. Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director and Site Supervisor to support program success. QUALIFICATIONS Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree required; a degree in education, social work, counseling, or a related field preferred. Teaching credentials and classroom teaching experience are strong assets, facilitating effective collaboration with host schools. Experience providing staff coaching, training, and support in educational or youth development settings. Administrative and supervisory experience preferred. Prior experience working with elementary-aged youth in afterschool or educational settings a plus. Skills and Competencies: Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Strong social and emotional maturity with behavioral management skills; knowledge of positive youth development principles and ability to apply DYCD’s strengths-based approach. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications. Demonstrated

with eagerness to learn, adapt, and continuously enhance professional skills.
