Overview
The position supports Scenic Design for park exhibits, shows, events, attractions, and theming elements. This role involves design execution, collaboration with Managers, and ensuring safety and quality standards across park projects. Primary Responsibilities
Assisting Managers with tasks and assignments for events and shows. Enthusiastically represents SeaWorld Parks and Entertainment and Busch Gardens Tampa. Display a positive attitude and maintain a high level of energy and commitment to quality, customer service and safety. Create and guide execution for designs for park exhibits, shows, events, attractions scenic and theming elements, signage and displays. Assist Managers with preparing working drawings and construction documents including plans, elevations, color selections and elevations of scenery, signs and props to be constructed in-house or by outside vendors. Create full-size, print-ready artwork for production of graphics, signs, or other printed scenic elements. Render drawings, illustrations or models of design concepts and present for approval; assist with presentations for fabrication bids. Assist with preparation of bid packages and review bids from vendors to ensure accuracy to specifications; source and procure show scenic and prop elements as required. Oversee fabrication, installation, and storage of design and theming elements. Enforce proper safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment as required. Work or lead with technical scenic crew for construction, scenic painting, installs, and strikes. Provide direction and supervision to crew leads or others involved in scenic tasks or maintenance. Attend or coordinate production meetings; prepare timelines and schedules for work progression. Monitor progress of new design elements and keep production staff updated on status and changes. Meet deadlines and keep Project Manager and supervisors informed of challenges and solutions. Assist with Entertainment activities and special events in other facilities as needed. Qualifications and Requirements
College Theatrical Scenic Design Degree required. Applicant must submit a resume to be considered for this position. Must be at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver’s license and be willing to be trained to operate/drive park vehicles including trucks (non-CDL) and high reach lifts. Four years or more of experience or education in scenic design, theater, fine art, theming or graphics or equivalent. Proficiency in AutoCAD, Sketch-Up, Vectorworks, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat Professional and Microsoft Office. Strong written and verbal communication skills and organizational abilities. Ability to work collaboratively on a team and accept feedback from others. Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and work under pressure with tight deadlines. Flexible schedule, including early mornings, days or nights, weekends, or holidays as needed. Ability to positively interact with park guests, vendors, and co-workers of all ages and backgrounds, including individuals with special needs. Ability to work in varying conditions (indoor/outdoor, weather, elevated or cramped spaces) and to stand, sit or walk for extended periods; ability to bend, stoop, climb stairs/ladders; use PPE; lift/push/pull a minimum of 50 pounds several times per shift. Must obtain a valid driver’s license with proof of insurance and meet Busch Gardens driving guidelines. Adhere to and enforce all Park/Department policies and procedures. The Perks Of The Position
