Overview Williamson's Chapel UMC seeks a Director of Youth Ministries to plan, coordinate, and lead ministries for and with youth (6-12 grades) and their families, including weekly Sunday morning and evening programs, special activities, and regular mission opportunities. The Director of Youth Ministries works closely with other staff members and church leaders to ensure that youth ministry is connected to the larger vision of our church, which is to build a community of belonging by connecting people to God's purpose in their life through deeper relationships and meaningful service.

Position DIRECTOR OF YOUTH MINISTRIES

Reports To Senior Pastor of Discipleship

Hours Schedule will vary from week to week. The Director of Youth Ministry is expected to be flexible and to plan each work week based on the needs of youth and the wider congregation.

Job Summary The Director of Youth Ministry will develop and facilitate a comprehensive discipleship program for youth (6-12 grade), as well as keep the youth connected to the larger ministry and vision of the church.

Essential Functions

Establish a healthy youth ministry program and inclusive culture that is aligned with the vision of Williamson's Chapel UMC.

Plan and execute opportunities for spiritual growth and discipleship for youth ages 6-12 grade (including Sunday School, UMYF, Bible Studies, Confirmation, etc.).

Recruit, equip, and partner with youth ministry volunteers to maintain a healthy culture of discipleship for youth at WCUMC.

Work with the WCUMC staff in collaborative ways to create and maintain a culture of faithful, lifelong discipleship for all ages.

Maintain Safe Sanctuary policies and procedures for youth and adult volunteers.

Communicate programs, events, and other relevant information to youth and families in a consistent, timely manner. Work with the WCUMC Communications Specialist to keep the entire church informed about youth ministry successes and needs.

Create and maintain a youth ministry budget that supports effective youth ministry.

With the Director of Missions, provide regular opportunities for youth to participate in local and regional missions through existing missional agencies and in-house missions (summer mission trips, Share Christmas, etc.).

Create and maintain a relational presence and support for youth and their families in crisis. Equip youth ministry volunteers to help provide appropriate care and support to youth and their families in crisis situations.

Minimum Qualifications

Strong commitment to growing as a disciple of Jesus Christ and a passion for helping youth experience God's life-changing grace and love in their lives.

Bachelor's degree in Christian Education, religious studies, or related field, and a minimum of 5 years' experience in leadership in youth ministry.

Commitment to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all youth and families.

Understanding of and ability to communicate UMC doctrine and theology in practical ways that help youth grow in faith, understanding, and love.
