Assistant Director of Admission

— Merrimack College is one of the fastest-growing educational institutions in the country and is located just minutes from Boston, Massachusetts. The Assistant Director will recruit and enroll new undergraduate students and develop and implement a recruitment plan for an assigned territory. The role requires meeting specific enrollment and recruitment goals, maintaining active communication with students and families, and actively participating in on-campus and off-campus events.
Primary Responsibilities
Regularly meet or exceed assigned enrollment goals, outreach targets, and recruitment event goals.
Establish, maintain and grow relationships with students, families, and school counselors within the assigned territory through proactive outreach and consistent follow up communication and top-notch customer service.
Maintain a high level of knowledge of the benefits of a Merrimack College education and the outcome statistics of those who graduate.
Plan and implement recruitment travel for an assigned territory using historical data, market trends, and other key indicators.
Travel independently for up to 12 weeks per year, representing Merrimack at college fairs, high school visits, off-campus yield events, alumni engagement events, and professional development conferences.
Work irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and travel overnight out of state.
Advise and counsel students and families through the application and financial aid process.
Accurately maintain notes and data in Slate CRM regarding student conversations, event outcomes, and application information.
Actively participate in on-campus, off-campus, and virtual admission events as assigned.
Serve as “Counselor of the Day,” meeting with prospective students and families visiting campus and conducting information sessions on academics, campus life, and steps to apply.
Manage cross-departmental relationships and communication as it relates to assigned projects.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree required.
Valid U.S. driving license required.
2+ years of professional experience, preferably in recruitment, sales, or admission.
Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.
Self-starter with a positive attitude, proactive mindset, and strong work ethic.
Effective time management and organizational skills.
Demonstrated ability to prioritize among competing tasks and pay close attention to detail in a deadline-driven, fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated problem-solving ability, quick decision-making, and creative independence.
Willingness to learn and utilize the latest technology in enrollment planning, including CRM systems.
Experience providing top-notch customer service.
Excellent verbal, written, and public speaking communication skills.
Ability to establish and maintain meaningful relationships with prospective students, parents, school counselors, alumni, colleagues, and the Merrimack community.
Ability and willingness to work extended hours, including nights and weekends, and travel extensively, including overnights and weekends.
Ability to thrive in a data-oriented, analytical environment.
