Overview
Tenure-Track/Tenured: Assistant Professor or Associate Professor at Texas A&M University. The Department of Materials Science and Engineering (MSEN), College of Engineering invites applications for one full-time tenured or tenure-track faculty position, at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, with a 9-month academic appointment and the possibility of an additional summer appointment contingent upon the need and availability of funds, beginning August 1, 2026. MSEN will consider individuals with demonstrated expertise and experience in synthesis, processing and manufacturing of powder-based ceramics and metals. Priority will be given to candidates with research activities in powder synthesis (including non-equilibrium processes), high entropy materials, and/or the science of additive manufacturing as applied to materials for extreme environments and/or functional applications. The successful candidate will join a dynamic and growing cluster of faculty supported by expanding experimental capabilities, including the Center for Alloy and Powder Synthesis (CAPS). The successful applicant will be required to teach; advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students; develop an independent, externally funded research program; participate in all aspects of the Department’s activities; and serve the profession. Responsibilities
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses; supervise student projects and theses as appropriate for the position. Advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students. Develop and sustain an independent, externally funded research program. Participate in Departmental activities and service to the profession. Collaborate across the engineering discipline to develop laboratories and sponsor research activities. Qualifications
Earned doctorate in Materials Science and Engineering or a closely related engineering degree. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Evidence of potential for scholarly impact and externally funded research. Ability to work in a collaborative environment within the Department and College. Application Process
