Textile R&D Chemist . This position offers a variety of tasks with increasing complexity across research, development, technical, quality, and sales functions. Reporting directly to the Director of R&D, this role is essential in supporting the development and continuous improvement of products and processes. Location:
Fort Mill, SC Direct Hire Salary:
65k-70k/yr. w/annual bonus of up to 15% Key Responsibilities: Perform lab work utilizing available data resources and executing repetitive tasks with precision. Apply standard testing methods, techniques, and product formulations while exercising judgment in selecting appropriate alternatives. Conduct analysis, tests, and experiments, interpreting and presenting results. Utilize critical thinking to interpret data and clearly communicate findings to stakeholders. Provide customer support, including troubleshooting and sample evaluation. Qualify both new and existing raw materials. Contribute to specific research components within larger projects under the guidance of senior professionals. Maintain accurate records in lab notebooks and SAP as required. Complete TSW requests and generate relevant reports. Assist in training new employees and may delegate tasks as appropriate. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Required Skills: Strong time management and organizational skills Proficiency with computer programs (SAP, Excel, Lotus Notes) Expertise in lab and analytical techniques Excellent written and verbal communication skills This role operates within a professional chemical laboratory environment, using industry-standard chemical lab equipment such as Karl Fischer, HPLC, FTIR, TGA, DSC, AA, and pH meters, in addition to office equipment including computers and photocopiers. Physical Demands: The role requires typical lab activities, including lifting up to 5-gallon pails, standing, sitting, and performing other lab tasks. Required Education and Experience: Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or Textile Chemistry A minimum of 5 years of experience in the relevant field Experience in textile dyeing, finishing, and related testing applications Preferred Education and Experience: Master’s degree in Chemistry or Textile Chemistry At least 2 years of experience in a related field Knowledge of SAP Experience with wet analytical test methods This job description is a complete list of all desired skills but not all are required.
