Position Description: The Medical College of Wisconsin's Department of Surgery is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide specialty medical care within the Surgicalist program. This position will cover Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital in Menomonee Falls, WI and Froedtert West Bend Hospital in West Bend. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching.
Position Highlights
Managing post-op hospital stay for surgical patients, mostly including daily rounding, admissions, and discharges at both hospitals.
Service includes general surgery, minimally invasive and gastrointestinal surgery, endocrine surgery, thoracic surgery, urology, Gyn, and vascular patients
Work collaboratively with other APPs, Surgeons and Nursing Staff
Locations: Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital, Froedtert West Bend Hospital
Reports to APP Supervisor
Schedule
1.0 FTE (40 hour annualized clinical work week) for hospital-based service coverage.
13-hour shifts with mostly day coverage (weekday and weekend), occasional night shifts covering the medical management of general surgery, vascular, Gyn, and urology surgical patients including discharge management and coordination.
Holiday coverage required, on rotational basis.

Position Requirements Preferred Experience:
Previous APP acute care experience preferred.
Minimum Education:
Advanced Practice Nurse:
Master\'s Degree or higher in Nursing from a nationally accredited organization.
Physician Assistant:
Bachelor\'s Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA-accredited organization.
