Overview
The Research Associate will be mainly in charge of carrying out Drosophila health and longevity experiments, as well as maintaining basic day-to-day operations in the lab. The Research Associate will supervise undergraduate workers and volunteers in the lab. The role may include molecular biology experiments such as PCR, qPCR, and Western blotting, and data analysis. Responsibilities
Drosophila husbandry, media production, and stock maintenance. Supervise undergraduate students on their Drosophila health projects. Conduct longevity, stress, and health assays. Perform PCR, qPCR, and Western blotting. Analyze experimental data using R. Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications
Required Qualifications Master\'s degree from an accredited college or university in chemistry, biology, biochemistry, cell biology or related natural, life, health care, or materials science; experience in research, basic science, or clinical laboratory work (including clinical trial research). OR Bachelor\'s degree in a related field with a minimum of three years\' research and/or clinical experience; previous supervisory experience. Preferred Qualifications Master\'s degree in biology or related field with experience in molecular biology and statistical analyses. Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Proficient in Microsoft Office and other computer software/databases. Basic understanding of laboratory techniques. Skills Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Abilities Ability to maintain confidentiality. Highly motivated. Shift/Salary/Benefits
Shift: Days; Monday - Friday (occasional work outside normal hours). Salary Minimum: $45,400 annually. Pay Band: B8 Salary to be commensurate with qualifications within the established range. Recruitment Period: Until Filled. Benefits may include health/dental insurance, life insurance, retirement plan, vacation, sick leave, and 13 paid holidays. Tuition Assistance Program consideration after 6 months of employment. Conditions of Employment
All selected candidates must pass a background check prior to starting. Credit check may be required for Positions of Trust or approved Purchase Card usage (where applicable). Motor vehicle reports may be required for positions requiring driving Augusta University vehicles.
