EHS Specialist - 2nd Shift The Kraft Heinz Company is seeking an

Environmental Health & Safety Specialist

to work at the Muscatine, IA facility. The role will administer EHS processes that include Safety & Health, Environmental, Facility Security, and Pandemic Planning at the factory location. The primary purpose is to achieve compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, and Kraft Heinz policies, procedures, and processes.

Responsibilities & Duties

Act as a backup for the EHS Manager during off shift hours, making independent decisions, triaging incidents, and reacting promptly to minimize risk.

Implement the Kraft Heinz Safety Playbook and Safety Rules.

Participate in the QRMP yearly audit and assist in the development of procedures and corrective actions.

Accountable for the QRMP system and operational standards as outlined in the plant accountability list.

Drive EHS strategies that align with corporate objectives to reduce/mitigate operational risk.

Use key metrics to illustrate and affect performance in EHS at the factory location.

Communicate EHS factory results.

Participate in the annual EHS conference, quarterly webcasts, regional meetings, etc.

Primary liaison to collaborate with Factory Management and Supervision regarding incidents that could jeopardize the integrity of the brands.

Knowledge of applicable EHS legislation and practices that impact the factory.

EHS financial budget diligence.

Ensure that the site adheres to applicable Heinz policies, procedures, processes, and operating principles.

Recommend new policies or procedures as necessary.

Coordinate and assist with the implementation of continuous improvement principles into EHS elements.

Conduct audits, inspections, and training on a broad range of topics.

Implement Heinz EHS Management Systems and Best Practices as designed.

Provide training to management and employees to ensure that all recognize their contribution to improved EHS performance.

Ensure compliance with any EHS legislation.

Coordinate and attend any hearings on EHS matters.

Facilitate activities related to EHS controls.

Administer new and current processes and tools to ensure compliance with all Federal, State, and local EHS regulations and assist the factory with these requirements.

Implement the facility’s EHS Business Plans. Ensure action items develop and implement for process improvement.

Assist with Injury and Claim Management.

Meet corporate deadlines and completion targets.

Drive optimal EHS performance results.

Assist and partner with business leaders on implementation of process improvement (Six Sigma / KHMS), including leading change initiatives, planning, and facilitation.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Safety and Environmental Management, Industrial Hygiene, or equivalent.

Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or willing to get certified within 3 months of hire. Must meet BLS background requirements prior to employment.

1-3 years’ experience in safety and environmental management.

Knowledge of OSHA, EPA Regulations, DOT Regulations and Management Systems (ISO 14001).

Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM) is preferred.

Prior experience in a food manufacturing environment desired.

Ability to multitask and work in a team‑oriented fast‑paced environment.

Good interpersonal, organizational, presentation, and facilitation skills.

Well‑developed written and verbal communication skills.

Willingness to grow with the organization and commit to “doing what it takes” to attain aggressive organizational objectives.

Must have the ability to exercise considerable judgment, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills.

1895 started tomato processing.

Current products – Ketchups, L&P, Heinz Homestyle Gravy, single‑serve ketchup, 57 sauce, and BBQ sauces.
