Overview

The Department of Cardiac Surgery at Michigan Medicine is seeking a Research Laboratory Specialist to join the Thoracic Aorta Research Lab at the North Campus Research Complex (NCRC). The research focuses on understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying aortic aneurysm and valve disease using approaches such as stem cell biology, gene editing, bioengineered human vascular grafts, and animal model studies, with the goal of developing treatment strategies. Mission: Michigan Medicine improves the health of patients, populations and communities through excellence in education, patient care, community service, research and technology development. Responsibilities

Perform routine animal husbandry tasks, conduct animal surgeries and in vivo monitoring, and contribute to developing new animal models for cardiovascular research. Collaborate with surgeons and researchers to address clinical needs in human aortic research and surgical intervention; work with hiPSC, gene editing, tissue-engineered vessels, and functional genomics to elucidate molecular mechanisms of aortic aneurysm and dissection. Contribute to research papers and publications. Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field. Background in animal model studies in cardiovascular research. Strong publication record in vascular diseases. Intermediate level: minimum 4 years of direct experience. Associate level: minimum 1 year of direct experience. Desired Qualifications

Master's degree preferred. Modes of Work
