Specialized Services Child Welfare Specialist (S-CWS) Full Time, Exempt. Reports to Specialized Services Program Manager. Salary range $51,336 - $56,336 per year.

Overview Lutheran Child and Family Services of Illinois improves the well‑being of people across the state by protecting children, strengthening families and building futures for those who have experienced trauma. The Specialized Services Child Welfare Specialist (S‑CWS) is part of a child welfare team that provides intensive wrap‑around services for youth with medical, mental health, and placement needs.

Responsibilities

Assess, plan, and evaluate services for safety, permanency, and well‑being outcomes.

Implement individualized and targeted services such as counseling, respite, mentoring, and case management.

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve quality and achieve program outcomes.

Participate in System of Care principles and provide behavioral health specialty services.

Respond to crises, mediate problems, and provide on‑call support.

Maintain knowledge of child welfare laws, policies, and trends; recommend program adjustments.

Achieve performance metrics on safety, permanency, well‑being, and overall agency outcomes.

Represent client needs to referral sources, DCFS, judicial system, and government agencies.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Human Services or related field.

Minimum 1 year of related experience in child and family casework services.

Child Welfare Employee License (CWEL) in IL preferred.

Proficiency in English; Spanish proficiency preferred.

Strong written, verbal, facilitation, and computer skills.

Ability to travel, work flexible hours, and lift up to 15 pounds.
