Through its relationship with CUSO Financial Services, L. P. (CFS), Argent Credit Union is seeking a
Financial Advisor
to provide retirement and investment services to its member base in and around the Richmond, Virginia area.
Argent Credit Union is a full-service, not-for-profit financial cooperative headquartered in Chester, Virginia, with eight branch locations throughout the Richmond metro area. Founded in 1956 to serve the employees of the DuPont Spruance facility in Chesterfield, Virginia, Argent Credit Union is now a community-focused credit union with $500 million in assets serving nearly 40,000 members.
As a Financial Advisor , your responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Identifying and evaluating customer needs for financial services, assessing the objectives and goals of the individual, then developing an investment strategy to implement.
Staying current and analyzing market conditions, educating yourself about financial and investment vehicles, and understanding the tax and securities implications for clients. Attending training and completing required continuing education, keeping current on investment products and services offered. Meeting regularly with the Program Manager and training if necessary.
Driving investment and program integration initiatives with the credit union and/or assigned bank program, including branch personnel training. Engaging regularly with branch staff and other key areas within the credit union. Providing ongoing training and coaching to increase the quality and quantity of member leads to the investment team. Providing feedback to branch employees, credit union executives, and sales managers regarding sales practices and business development. Collaborating with Financial Center Managers to identify and leverage cross-sell opportunities.
Serving and performing periodic reviews of existing client accounts, meeting with clients periodically to review and update their needs, ensuring investment objectives and goals are progressing as planned. Meetings may be monthly, quarterly, or yearly depending on client needs.
Remaining visible to the public to meet and retain potential new clients for CFS, including conducting client workshops/seminars on topics such as Social Security, Education Planning, Retirement Planning, etc.
Required Qualifications:
Active Series 7, 63/65 (or 66) licenses along with Life, Accident & Health licenses
Clean U-4 and Background
Two or more years of sales experience in the financial services industry, preferably in a bank or credit union
Excellent verbal and written communication skills necessary to provide exceptional service to members/clients and promote the investment program to internal partners and external networks
Experience with broker-dealer technology, e.g., electronic order entry systems, DocuSign, etc., and proficiency with CRM systems to document interactions and activities
Commitment to supporting and contributing to a team-oriented culture
Desired Qualifications:
Undergraduate Degree in Business, Finance, or related field
Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation a plus
Experience delivering high-quality service in all interactions within a financial institution environment
High level of performance and work ethic requiring minimal supervision
