Role Title: Private Lending - Underwriter Location: Dallas, TX Job Type: Full-Time Overview: The Private Loan Underwriter plays a critical role in the evaluation, assessment, and approval of private loan applications. They are responsible for ensuring that investment opportunities meet the firm’s criteria and mitigate risks for private investors. This individual will review and analyze loan applications, property valuations, borrower financials, and other key risk factors to make informed decisions on lending. The ideal candidate will have a keen eye for detail, a solid understanding of real estate financing, and strong analytical skills. Key Responsibilities: Loan Evaluation and Risk Assessment: Analyze property and borrower information to assess the risk and viability of private loan opportunities. Review borrower credit profiles, income statements, and other financial documents. Perform property evaluations and understand market trends to ensure accurate appraisals and loan-to-value ratios. Conduct thorough due diligence on all loans to identify potential risks, including title searches, insurance verification, and other necessary documentation. Underwriting and Decision Making: Make recommendations for loan approvals or denials based on established lending criteria and risk analysis. Collaborate with loan officers, brokers, and real estate agents to obtain additional information as needed. Prepare detailed underwriting reports outlining key findings, risks, and recommendations. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure that all loans comply with applicable regulations, industry standards, and internal policies. Maintain organized records of underwriting decisions and transactions. Work closely with legal teams to prepare necessary documents for loan agreements and investor disclosures. Communication and Coordination: Effectively communicate underwriting decisions and rationale to internal teams and clients. Provide ongoing support to the sales and loan processing teams to ensure smooth loan closings. Address and resolve any questions or issues related to loan applications or underwriting conditions. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices to enhance underwriting processes. Contribute to the development and refinement of underwriting guidelines and strategies. Qualifications: Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Business, or a related field (Preferred). Experience: Minimum 3-5 years of experience in real estate underwriting, mortgage underwriting, or related field. (Private Money Lending Underwriting Experience Preferred). Skills: Strong knowledge of private money lending and real estate finance. Proficiency in financial analysis and loan evaluation. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. Strong communication and interpersonal abilities. Familiarity with underwriting software and CRM tools. Personal Attributes: Analytical mindset with the ability to assess risk and make informed decisions. Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
