Summary: The Senior Accountant is responsible for preparing and maintaining accurate accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports in adherence to procedural standards. This role plays a key part in providing management with precise information related to costs, budgets, payroll, and forecasting in an efficient manner. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions. Distribute expenditures, encumbrances, receipts, and receivables according to schedules. Provide records of assets, liabilities, and other financial transactions. Prepare balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other reports to summarize and interpret the current and projected financial position for managers. Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures. Review, investigate, and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents, and reports. Collect appropriate data and prepare federal, state, and local reports and tax returns. Act as a back-up for other accounting duties. Support the preparation of year-end audit files and analysis. Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university in a relevant field and 2-5 years of directly related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
