Repossession Assistant

Posted Monday, October 6, 2025 at 4:00 AM FLSA Status : Non Exempt Schedule : Monday through Friday. Work hours will depend on the business hours of the time zone serviced. To the extent permitted by law, the Company may, in its sole discretion, change the work schedule to address business needs. In This Role, You Will : Perform as an Administrative Assistant in our Repossession department by supporting our branch locations and our in-house collection attorney with activity on accounts with repossessed collateral. Responsibilities and Essential Duties : Contact branch staff and gather necessary information and documentation to begin the auto repossession processes upon receiving Repossession Approval and Assignment requests. Prepare and mail statutory notices, demand letters, and deficiency balance letters to customers while ensuring adherence to state guidelines; follow up to ensure delivery to the intended party. Use CARS system to verify repossession companies are licensed, bonded and insured and then contact for repossession of customer vehicles; use CARS system to track progress of vehicle repossession. Track inquiries, bids, and purchases of vehicles to ensure successful sale within 90 days; follow up with vendors and branches to assist in timely sales of vehicles. Coordinate with repossession companies and branch employees to acquire necessary customer information to facilitate repossession, and communicate correspondence from customers as needed. Enter customer information updates into CIM to support our branches in making contact with customers. Follow collection policies and procedures of the company. Coordinate specific work tasks inter-departmentally as well as with branch employees in order to ensure the smooth and efficient flow of information. Strictly comply with the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, Maryland Debt Collection Act, Privacy provisions of the federal and state laws, Confidential Financial Record law of the State of Maryland. May perform additional functions depending on market demand and staffing in order to provide consistent quality customer service. Required Qualifications : High school diploma or equivalent. Two or more years of experience in an office environment. Ability to pay close attention to detail with a high degree of accuracy. Proficient in Microsoft Outlook and Word; basic knowledge of Excel and Access. Knowledge of lending, collections, and fair practice and ethics in consumer finance preferred. Preferred Qualifications : Associate’s Degree or two years of college coursework preferred. Physical Demands : While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
