JOB DESCRIPTION
Analyzes and reconciles accounts. Prepares and annotates variance reports. Works with operating plans to create supporting financial forecasts and budgets. Performs research to understand the accounting consequences of alternative approaches. Responsible for conducting financial analysis projects (e.g. capital versus expense, ROI, resource allocations, budget preparation, etc.) and special statistical studies. Analyze performance returns for accuracy, communicate and review results with investment professionals. Role requires a thorough knowledge of accounting and finance principles, excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to present financial analysis to management. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel/Word/PowerPoint software and have a working knowledge of popular financial management applications.
Project Overview & Scope of Work Major IT infrastructure upgrade with 4 parallel tracks and 170+ personnel involved. The Financial Analyst will support financial tracking and forecasting across multiple SOWs, vendors, and internal labor.
Responsibilities include:
Monthly forecasting and accrual management
Vendor coordination for forecasts and actuals
Excel-based financial modeling and variance analysis
Ensuring accuracy within a ±5% tolerance on a ~$2.5M monthly burn rate
Supporting capital forecasting (O&M not included)
Collaborating with workstream leads and financial controller
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
Use Business Objects and SharePoint to gather actuals and forecasts
Maintain and update Excel templates for financial tracking
Coordinate with vendors to collect forecast data and accruals
Finalize forecasts by business day 5 each month
Analyze variances between actuals and forecasts
Ensure compliance with accrual deadlines and internal processes
Team & Environment Small, collaborative team (currently 1 Financial Analyst). Supportive culture with opportunities for growth and cross-functional exposure. New hire will be trained by the current analyst and Greg Rogers. Long-term project running through 2028 with extensions re-evaluated annually.
Candidate Profile Required Skills & Qualifications
1–3 years of financial or accounting experience
Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Demonstrated experience in team environments, meeting deadlines, and delivering accurate work
Comfortable with ambiguity and detail-oriented
