Overview
Purpose of the Position: Create and maintain plant automation and control systems, staying current with new technology and safety requirements for all Pet operations. Set standards and introduce new technology in the electrical and controls field within the Pet operations. Essential Position Responsibilities
- This is a Salary Exempt position. Responsibilities
Maintenance and development of electrical control systems and plant automation. Participates in the determination of specifications for new installations and performs as a key member on project installation teams. Maintain standards for plant automation, ensuring consistency across all facilities. Support all Pet ongoing operations and maintenance troubleshooting requirements. Participates and supports in the Overall Equipment Effectiveness Program (OEE), provides training for new and developing controls technicians. Maintain safety of electrical systems and plant automation: Participation in the NFPA 70E safety requirement and maintains compliance with regulatory authority for all electric systems. Participates as a member of the Team: coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members, attends appropriate team meetings, fosters cohesiveness, and supports resolution of issues to achieve synergy within the organization. Simmons Operating systems principles and objectives: Be familiar with Simmons’ established operating systems (quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN); understand the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems, including the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas. Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives. Physical and Environmental Requirements
Physical Activities: Enters and locates information on a computer; visually verifies information, often in small print; communicates with customers, vendors, or employees via telephone, in person, and/or electronic mail; may present information to small or large groups; must be able to work in various temperatures; move about in a manufacturing environment and surrounding property; may travel via car or plane to various work locations. PPE: As required by visiting facility. Travel: Travels domestically to and from multiple facilities or work-sites, possibly requiring overnight stays. Technical and Industry Experience
Technical Experience: 10 years experience in electrical systems and plant automation environment. Industry Experience: Preference for pet food or food processing organization. Education
