The Senior Accountant performs the accounting and financial functions of the hospital, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and compliance with applicable standards and regulations. This role supports the hospital’s financial health through detailed analysis, reporting, and collaboration with key departments.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain general ledger and ensure timely month-end and year-end closing processes
Prepare and analyze financial statements in accordance with GAAP
Assist in budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
Reconcile accounts and perform regular audits to ensure accuracy
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure proper financial procedures and controls
Ensure compliance with healthcare industry standards and regulations
Support internal and external audits
Utilize Microsoft Excel to develop and maintain financial models and reports
Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies
Requirements & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration
Minimum of five (5) years of progressive financial and accounting experience Healthcare/hospital industry experience strongly preferred
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
In-depth knowledge of GAAP and healthcare-related accounting practices
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
Excellent communication and organizational abilities
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Preferred Experience
CPA or CMA certification (or in progress)
Experience working with hospital ERP systems or financial software
Familiarity with cost reporting and reimbursement principles in healthcare
Compensation
The compensation for this position is commensurate with experience and qualifications. Candidates with direct healthcare accounting experience may be eligible for compensation at the higher end of the pay range.
