Sr. Compliance Manager – Operational Risk Testing role at KeyBank. Location: 4910 Tiedeman Road - Brooklyn, Ohio 44144. About The Job
As part of Key’s second line of defense Compliance Risk Management function, the Risk Evaluation and Assurance Program (the REA Program) evaluates Key’s ongoing compliance with applicable laws and regulations and the adequacy of operational controls and processes in mitigating applicable risks through the execution of operational and compliance monitoring and testing across Key’s lines of business, products, and functional activities. Individuals lead the design and execution of testing and continuous monitoring to evaluate the adequacy of Key’s operations and compliance with regulatory requirements. The Senior Manager must have a strong understanding of audit and/or testing concepts and apply those to testing, monitoring, issues management, and verification activities. The role requires strong leadership, initiative, agility, and a track record of continuous learning and challenging the status quo. Experience managing a team of testing, compliance, or operational risk professionals, knowledge of banking operations and products, and the ability to develop, execute, and oversee testing and monitoring activities are highly valued. The Senior Manager should be able to demonstrate leadership across various lines of business and coordinate with other groups within Key, including lines of business, other risk management teams, and Internal Audit. Responsibilities
Lead and manage a team of operational risk testing professionals and oversee risk-based monitoring and evaluation activities, including risk assessment, monitoring and testing, analysis of findings, and reporting to ensure effective, sustainable risk management processes. Provide oversight, guidance, and strategic direction to staff related to day-to-day responsibilities and engagement of line of business management and compliance partners in designing and executing testing, special projects, and ongoing monitoring. Demonstrate subject matter expertise in testing and working knowledge of banking operations, industry trends, emerging issues, and related banking products; understand applicability to risk management strategies including scoping of risk evaluations, monitoring, and design of testing plans. Utilize data analysis tools and techniques to lead a team in analyzing, quantifying, and assessing risks and evaluating controls to identify potential weaknesses and/or control gaps. Assist REA Executive with the ongoing design, development, and implementation of the REA operational risk testing program including testing plan, methodology, ongoing monitoring, and strategic initiatives to ensure policies, procedures, and processes are designed and executed to mitigate operational risks in line with industry best practices. Manage staff, provide coaching, and drive quality of work; identify, escalate, remediate, and validate any issues or breaches with actual or potential compliance risk impact. Maintain awareness of emerging issues, bank-wide initiatives, and industry trends to proactively identify process and control improvement opportunities through testing engagements and ongoing monitoring. Develop and maintain strong relationships with mid- to senior-level management, Internal Audit, regulatory examiners, and other stakeholders. Participate in special projects and contribute to the development and ongoing enhancement of the REA Program and related procedures. Actively pursue training and continuing education to develop knowledge of regulatory compliance, banking products and services, industry trends, and emerging risks. Qualifications
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree. Minimum 6 years of compliance, risk management, and/or audit experience with a focus on risks and controls and risk-based auditing/testing techniques; management experience preferred. Advanced working knowledge of financial services compliance and operations, including OCC, FRB, State Law, and other relevant regulations. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to work with all levels of management and collaborate effectively. Experience with data analysis tools and techniques, including advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and/or other analytical software (e.g., SAS, Tableau, ACL). Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. High ethical standards, strong analytical and problem-solving skills; autonomous, self-motivated, and adaptable in a fast-paced environment. Experience working on cross-functional projects requiring strategic planning across multiple business processes. Preferred Qualifications
Professional certifications in risk management, internal audit, and/or compliance (e.g., CISA, CIA, CFE, CRCM) are preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of the operational, technical, and functional structure of financial services organizations, banking systems, and risk programs. Compensation And Benefits
Base salary range: $130,000 to $160,000 annually, depending on location and experience. Eligible for short-term and deferred incentive compensation subject to performance.
