Energy (Physical Power) Desk Accountant
to support its commodity trading desks Based in Houston, this position will play a key role in monthly close processes, economic-to-accounting P&L reconciliations, and transaction validation across multiple trading products It’s a strong fit for someone who thrives in fast-paced, cross-functional environments and is eager to grow in a trading-focused role Role Summary: Reconcile P&L (economic vs. accounting) Validate AR/AP and confirm accuracy of trade data Review and book commodity trading transactions Analyze balance sheet, cash flow, and working capital movements Coordinate closely with front/middle office and operations teams Support quarter- and year-end close and audit activity Ideal Candidate Profile: Bachelor’s in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred) 2–4 years of experience in energy (power) desk-level accounting, ideally in energy (power accounting) Solid understanding of financial accounting and trading operations Strong Excel skills and attention to detail Able to manage deadlines and shifting priorities in a high-volume setting Comfortable interfacing with multiple internal stakeholders Initially hybrid (4/1), transitioning to fully in-office Long-term growth path and competitive benefits Korn Ferry is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
