About Climate 200

Climate 200 is a mission-driven, not-for-profit organisation that supports community-selected independent candidates committed to climate, integrity and gender equality in Australian elections. Our work is fast-paced, highly scrutinised, and deeply impactful. By strengthening democratic integrity and accelerating climate action, we help communities amplify their voice and influence Australia’s future. We are now seeking a Finance Manager to join our growing team and bring in-house financial leadership that is accurate, timely, and aligned with our values of integrity, collaboration, adaptability, and impact. The Role

The Finance Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day financial operations of Climate 200, supporting the fractional Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to deliver strong financial stewardship in a complex regulatory environment, and helping to enhance the quality of financial management across the broader community independents ecosystem. This role is both hands-on and strategic: balancing bookkeeping accuracy with financial analysis, ensuring compliance with electoral regulations, and strengthening internal controls as the organisation scales rapidly. Importantly, the Finance Manager will not be working alone. They will be supported by a part-time Bookkeeper, who manages core transaction processing, payroll inputs, and reconciliations - freeing the Finance Manager to focus on higher-level analysis, compliance, and reporting. Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting Maintain accurate accounting records across multiple departments in Xero. Prepare monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, and variance analysis. Develop financial dashboards and KPI reporting to support the Executive Team and Board. Support budgeting, forecasting, and scenario modelling. Compliance & Governance Ensure compliance with Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) reporting, political donations regulation, payroll tax (multi-state), BAS/IAS, and superannuation obligations. Coordinate annual audits and year-end processes, maintaining high-quality workpapers. Support grant acquittals, regulatory submissions, and Board reporting. Payroll & Accounts Oversee payroll processing, superannuation, and employee entitlements (in collaboration with the Bookkeeper). Manage supplier payments, reimbursements, and receivables. Monitor cash balances and prepare payment runs for approval. Systems & Processes Enhance and document finance processes, ensuring strong internal controls. Leverage Xero, Dext, and integrated tools to improve efficiency and accuracy. Support the CFO in embedding best practice across financial operations. Skills & Experience

Essential CA/CPA qualification (or equivalent) with strong technical accounting knowledge. 5+ years’ experience in finance roles, including financial management and reporting. Demonstrated experience in compliance, audit preparation, and internal controls. Proficiency with Xero and Excel (including financial modelling). Desirable Experience in a fast-growing or complex organisation with significant compliance obligations. Understanding of not-for-profit or regulated sector finance, ideally with multi-entity or political donation reporting exposure. Familiarity with electoral funding, payroll tax across jurisdictions, or donor reporting. Previous involvement in a values-driven, mission-led organisation. Personal Attributes

We are looking for someone who brings both professional rigour and a passion for purpose-driven work. You will demonstrate: Integrity

– a commitment to transparency, accuracy, and ethical standards. Collaboration

– strong interpersonal skills, able to work closely with a small, high-performing team. Adaptability

– comfort with a fast-moving environment and evolving processes in a scaling organisation and broader movement. Impact

– motivation to use your finance expertise to advance climate and democratic outcomes. Practical Details
