Tagup Inc.
Tagup is a defense technology company founded at MIT that is redefining logistics superiority with next-generation AI. We’re growing rapidly and are looking for change-makers passionate about delivering innovative technologies to solve the most challenging problems in the world’s highest stakes environments. This is an exciting opportunity to engage in meaningful work that strengthens national security and contributes to the success of U.S. and allied forces. Join us in shaping the future of defense logistics for a safer tomorrow.
We’re seeking a Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) Manager (mid-level) for our New York City office—someone who can own core FP&A responsibilities today and has the ambition and trajectory to grow into a future CFO. You’ll partner closely with the CEO and Director of Operations to build scalable reporting, guide resource allocation, and translate data into decisions as we expand defense-sector programs and platform capabilities.
In this role, you’ll lead budgeting, forecasting, and executive reporting; mature our operating cadence; and support board materials, pricing strategy, and capital planning. Success looks like clarity for leadership, predictability for the business, and a strong foundation to step into broader finance leadership over time.
Responsibilities
Own company-wide budgeting, monthly/quarterly forecasting, and variance analysis (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
Develop and maintain driver-based financial models for bookings, revenue recognition, gross margin, OPEX, and cash runway.
Build and automate KPI dashboards covering growth, unit economics, cohort performance, sales efficiency, and program profitability.
Run monthly close partnering with Accounting; ensure accurate accruals, revenue recognition, and flux analysis.
Prepare Board and investor materials; support fundraising, debt facilities, and treasury planning.
Lead annual planning and rolling reforecast processes; facilitate headcount planning with functional leaders.
Partner with Product and Go-To-Market on pricing, deal review, and scenario modeling (e.g., contract terms, SLAs, deployment costs).
Build lightweight controls and policies as we scale (PO process, spend governance, approval thresholds).
Evaluate and implement finance systems (ERP/GL, FP&A tooling, BI); drive automation and data quality.
Serve as a strategic partner to the CEO with a clear growth path toward broader Finance leadership and, over time, CFO scope.
Desired Skills
5–8 years of progressive FP&A experience in SaaS/enterprise software, GovTech/Defense, or adjacent B2B environments.
Advanced Excel/Sheets modeling; proficiency with SQL and BI tooling a plus.
Strong understanding of revenue recognition, unit economics, and long-cycle enterprise sales dynamics.
Demonstrated ownership of budgets/forecasts for multi-functional teams and company-level modeling.
Executive-ready communication; can distill complexity and influence decisions.
Comfort operating in ambiguity with a hands-on, build-first mindset in a fast-moving environment.
Experience preparing Board materials, partnering with auditors, and supporting fundraising preferred.
Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA/CPA a plus.
Salary The estimated salary range for this position is between $150,000 and $185,000 annually. We strive to provide a competitive salary and benefits package that aligns with our employees’ experience and qualifications. Our primary objective is to attract and retain top talent, and we firmly believe in compensating our employees fairly for their invaluable contributions.
As a rapidly expanding technology company, we extend part-ownership to all team members through an Employee Stock Option Plan. Additionally, we offer comprehensive health insurance benefits, access to the company’s 401K plan, and foster a team-oriented work environment with regular company outings!
Why Join Us Own the operating model and partner directly with the CEO to turn data into decisions on pricing, headcount, and capital for mission‑critical defense programs. You’ll build driver‑based forecasts, automate KPI visibility, craft board‑ready narratives, and tackle complex revenue/contract modeling—gaining real CFO‑scope exposure across treasury, fundraising support, and lightweight controls as we scale.
Tagup is an equal opportunity employer and individuals seeking employment with us are considered without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, age, sex, marital status, physical or mental disability, veteran status, gender identity, sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by law.
Applicants must be authorized to work for ANY employer in the U.S. We are unable to sponsor or take over sponsorship of an employment Visa at this time.
