Overview
Under the direct supervision of the Audiologist, the audiology assistant will assist with preparation of patient care, manage the life cycle of device/accessory ordering/delivery process, and ensure appropriate education is provided to the patient with essential documentation conducted within the EHR. 64 Hours/2 Weeks Crystal Lake Clinic, Crystal Lake IL Day Shift Responsibilities
Responsible for audiology phone calls and scheduling of appointments Verifies hearing aid insurance benefits Places hearing aid orders through the manufacturers Orders clinic supplies and replenishes supplies as needed Troubleshoots and performs minor repairs to hearing aids, earmolds, and other amplification devices, and instructs patients on proper use and care of these devices as allowed by state licensure laws Responsible for preparing devices and accessories for manufacturer repair, including all associated paperwork and device tracking Responsible for verifying and maintaining inventory, including documentation of repaired devices and status Prepares unassembled hearing aids prior to hearing aid delivery Responsible for completion of purchase contracts and preparation of delivery folders Reviews the Hearing Instrument Purchase Contract with patient on day of hearing aid fitting Appropriate documentation of essential device and accessory information into EHR Verifies accuracy of manufacturer invoices and prepares them for processing prior to submitting to leadership Responsible for daily cleaning and stocking of exam and testing rooms Schedules and tracks annual calibration and any additional repair appointments for equipment and obtains purchase order information Responsible for updating POs biannually Performs scanning for the audiology department Assists patients with direct connectivity issues with their cell phones Prepares supplies and devices for patient pickup as needed Responsible for timely management of audiology in-basket in the EHR Prepares necessary billing forms and assists with charge tracking and validation Enters charges on the Chargeable Schedule for hearing aid repair and supply payments made on dates when patients do not have an appointment Education And Experience
High School Diploma or GED, required Associate degree in Hearing Instruments or Bachelor’s Degree in Communication Disorders Sciences preferred Certification/Licensure
Assistants Certification in Audiology C-AA or Occupational Hearing Conservationist (OHC) Certification preferred Special Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs occasionally, and/or up to 25 lbs frequently Ability to see Ability to hear alarms/telephones/normal speaking voice Culture of Excellence Behavior Expectations
