AVP, Casualty Portfolio Underwriter

Zurich North America This position reports to the Head of Casualty, Middle Market and can be based in any of our Zurich Offices. Responsibilities include: Portfolio management for assigned line of business Monitor product and pricing/rating performance. Ensure that Underwriting guidelines are fit for purpose for the Middle Market BU Deliver technical training Provide input into improvements for portfolio management and tiering Handle the most complex casualty queries and referrals within delegated authority, including approval of terms and conditions Partner with Product Development and Technical Underwriting team to monitor product to ensure that products are fit for purpose Lead and/or support cross functional projects that support the growth and profitability of the Middle Market portfolio. Partner with the actuarial team to monitor Model Price accuracy, develop and implement solutions to enhance model price and drive continuous enhancements of pricing tools Support continuous improvement of underwriting processes and tool landscape Basic Qualifications: High School Diploma or Equivalent and 7 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR High School Diploma or Equivalent and 14 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 5 or more years of experience in the Underwriting or Market Facing area OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice including an Associate Degree and 12 or more years of experience in the Claims or Underwriting Support area Preferred Qualifications: Bachelors degree and 8 or more years of experience in the underwriting area. Strong communication and problem solving skills. Experience in, and knowledge of the Middle Market competitive landscape. CPCU Advanced knowledge of casualty lines of business and the legal and regulatory environment. Strong listening, verbal and written communication skills. Advanced knowledge of Workers Compensation and/or Automobile lines of business, including coverage and rating plans. Portfolio management, underwriting, product underwriting, product development, risk selection and pricing experience. Ability to navigate through ambiguity. Strong influencing, collaboration, conflict resolution, and presentation skills. Executive presence and the ability to interact across all levels of the organization. Ability to lead the organization through innovative and creative thinking. At Zurich, compensation for roles is influenced by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience. The proposed salary range for this position is $113,000.00 - $185,000.00, with short-term incentive bonus eligibility set at 20%. Zurich in North America is an equal opportunity employer.
