The Tsui Group is seeking a qualified and experienced candidate to join our aviation team as a
Cost Estimator V
in Los Angeles County with the following duties. Essential Job Duties
Develop conceptual and detailed estimates for various scopes of work Direct and manage other estimators/estimating teams as needed; Train subordinate estimating personnel as needed Review construction and design cost proposals and change order requests – assist with the determination of merit Review the labor rates and markups to ensure conformance to the contract specifications Review quantities and labor productivity to ensure fair and reasonable representation of scope Review the material pricing and validate against RS Means for other pricing references Review contract documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work and equitable cost allowance for scope changes Establish basis of the owner’s acceptance or rejection of proposals and develop records of negotiation Reconcile contractor, internal and third-party estimates Proactively establish a routine reporting cycle that clearly communicates when an estimate changes and why Accumulate, evaluate and document historical cost data for the development of future estimates Provide coordination and liaison with project management personnel and other estimating resources throughout the estimate development Provide accuracy, reliability and completeness in all work products Maybe required to work various shifts as needed Requirements
Minimum Requirements
20+ years of general estimating experience directly related to both engineering and construction projects Education and Professional Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management or related field Master's degree strongly Hardware and Software Experience
Demonstrated proficiency estimating formats, including Uniformat II Proficient with industry estimating databases and other estimating data sources, e.g. RS Means, Richardsons, etc. Proficient with large-scale estimating software Experience with On-screen Take-off and MC2 is highly desirable Microsoft Office Suite Other Qualifications
Self-starter attitude with proved results-oriented focus Demonstrates a proactive, firm and respectful approach to estimate reconciliation efforts and change order processing Establish a personable, but contractual stance with the contractor Has demonstratable specialized experience/area of expertise. Previous experience with public airport projects is a must; experience within a commercial airport terminal is highly desirable Demonstrated experience with complex estimate reconciliations and change order negotiations Benefits
Salary Range: $194,000-$199,000 Medical, Vision, & Dental – 100% covered for the employee* Life and Insurance 10.5 days of Vacation pay (Accrued) 6 days of Sick pay (Available Immediately) 10 days of Holiday pay (9 Holidays, 1 Personal Day) 3% Employer Contribution 401k (After 1 year of service) Monthly Stipend for Cell Phone Laptop for work purposes
