Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field to estimating profession

Twenty years of general estimating experience

Demonstrated proficiency in various estimating formats

Proficient with industry estimating software, databases, sources, and tools

Proficient with Microsoft OfficeSuite

Self-starter attitude with results-oriented focus

Demonstrates a proactive, firm and respectful approach to estimate reconciliation efforts and change order processing

Demonstrated experience with complex estimate reconciliations and change order negotiations

Effective oral and written communication skills

Salary range for this position is $175,000 – $205,000. The offered salary will be based on the applicants qualifications, education, experience and work location.

Responsibilities

Develop conceptual and detailed estimates for various scopes of work

Direct and manage other estimators/estimating teams as needed; Train subordinate estimating personnel as needed

Review construction and design cost proposals and change order requests - assist with the determination of merit

Review the labor rates and markups to ensure conformance to the contract specifications

Review the quantities and labor productivity to ensure fair and reasonable representation of scope

Review the material pricing and validate against R.S. Means for other pricing references

Review contract documents and contract modifications to determine scope of work and equitable cost allowance for scope changes

Establish basis of the owner’s acceptance or rejection of proposals and develop records of negotiation

Reconcile contractor, internal and third-party estimates

Proactively establish a routine reporting cycle that clearly communicates when an estimate changes and why

Accumulate, evaluate and document historical cost data for the development of future estimates

Provide coordination and liaison with project management personnel and other estimating resources throughout the estimated development

Provide accuracy, reliability and completeness in all work products
