Rockland Federal Credit Union . Reporting to the Collections Manager, the Collections Specialist performs a variety of duties to ensure effective operations of the Collections department, in accordance with regulatory standards and Credit Union policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities

Initiates outbound collection calls to members with past due accounts on auto installment loans, lease loans, personal loans, revolving credit loans and VISAs in conformance with Fair Debt Collection practices (and other regulations). Manages assigned collection queue, working with members to secure payments or payment agreements on delinquent accounts, taking appropriate action to correct or bring loans current. Communicates violations and owned excise tax on lease accounts to establish repayment, taking appropriate action to correct or bring loans current. Accurately documents collection effort information (promise to pay, next contact date) in the collections system. Responds to incoming calls from members related to auto installment loans, lease loans, personal loans, revolving credit loans and VISAs. Answer member questions and researches and promptly corrects errors (e.g., posting errors) on delinquent accounts as needed. Accepts payments over the phone and assists with the establishment of payment plans. Contributes to the positive image of the Credit Union by maintaining courteous, respectful, and professional interactions with members and internal teams. Ensures that necessary holds and restrictions are placed on accounts in default. Prepares or forwards notification letters to members regarding restrictions/holds when applicable. Places copies of all correspondence into collections management platform. Maintains working knowledge of Credit Unions products and services, recognizing appropriate cross-selling opportunities to further meet member needs. Prepares Loan Committee cases for review, including recommendations for deferments for Loan Committee approval. Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent required. Prior customer/member service experience, preferably within a call center environment or financial services industry. Previous collections experience strongly preferred, preferably within a credit union environment. Ability to learn and understand State and Federal regulations related to collections laws (i.e. Fair Debt Collection Act, Fair Debt Reporting Act). Ability to cultivate professional relationships with a diverse field of membership. Excellent communication skills (both oral and written) with the ability to communicate effectively with members and staff at all levels of the organization. Ability to function in a fast-paced, high-volume call center, performing work with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to proactively problem-solve and effectively multi-task to meet deadlines. Excellent technical/computer skills, including MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook), with the ability to earn and implement new computer systems. Work Schedule And Benefits
