As an Insurance AR Specialist, you will be responsible for managing the accounts receivable process for services provided by SJH Derm. Your primary focus will be on reconciling and resolving outstanding insurance claims to ensure timely and accurate reimbursement, maximizing revenue collection, and minimizing delinquent accounts receivable.
Key Responsibilities
Review and analyze aging accounts receivable reports to identify unpaid, underpaid, or denied insurance claims. Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies, coding errors, and other issues contributing to unpaid or rejected claims. Contact insurance companies, government payers, and other third-party payers to follow up on unpaid or denied claims, and appeal claim denials when necessary. Reconcile payments received from insurance companies with billed amounts, posting payments, adjustments, and denials to patient accounts. Identify trends and patterns in claim denials and payment delays and implement strategies to address root causes and prevent future issues. Work closely with billing staff, coding professionals, and revenue cycle management team members to ensure accurate and compliant billing practices. Verify insurance eligibility and benefits coverage for patients, obtaining pre-authorizations and referrals as needed to facilitate claims processing. Provide support to billing staff in resolving billing inquiries, answering phone calls, and responding to emails from patients, insurance representatives, and internal leadership. Provide excellent customer service to patients, address billing inquiries, and assist with payment arrangements when applicable. Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of billing activities, correspondence with payers, and account resolution efforts. Collaborate with internal team members, healthcare providers, insurance representatives, and collection agencies, to resolve outstanding accounts receivable and optimize revenue cycle performance. Qualifications
Strong understanding of medical billing processes, insurance claim submission, and reimbursement methodologies. Proficiency in medical billing software (Nextech preferred), electronic health record systems, and billing-related applications. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, insurance representatives, and other stakeholders. Knowledge of insurance billing regulations, compliance standards, and HIPAA guidelines. Detail-oriented and organized, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail in account reconciliation and documentation. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
